HAARP: Project Bluebeam

Picture
HAARP (High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program) is the most powerful ionospheric heater known today at 3.6 megawatts of power. Recently upgraded from 40 antennas to 180. 33 acres across, this instrument is used to analyze the ionosphere (a region of the earth’s atmosphere). Examining the possibility to develop better technology for radio communications and surveillance advantages. It aims a signal to the sky, either continuous or pulsating. Acting as a huge broadcasting antenna, it pumps the signal back to the earth on what are called Extremely Low Frequency Waves or ELF waves. HAARP is said to punch the ionosphere with high frequency causing the ionosphere to vibrate, changing it from direct current to alternating current. With a billion watts, HAARP can move a cloud efficiently. These signals are then bounced back down to and into earth and analyzed. Big oil companies developed this technology to find oil underground, but the program is now taken over and funded by the US Air Force, US Navy the University of Alaska and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). This program is being operated from an air force owned site in Alaska and began in 1990. HAARP management insists that project activities are recorded and publicly available, although scientists without security clearances are often allowed on site. There is an open house every two years in which the community and outsiders are welcome to take a tour of the facility. Yet, there are still critics of this project that ask what really is the sole aim behind this project?

A physicist  by the name of Bernard Eastlund invented HAARP in 1983 at the height of the cold war. President Reagan was pushing for a missile defense program. Eastlund was proud of his breakthrough find, excited that this could help countries suffering from such horrible atrocities as droughts by bringing much needed rain. He would later criticize the project as a weapon, once it was in the control of the military.

What are the potential capabilities of this HAARP?  Many people also believe it has great potential for manipulating weather and its patterns. Some are even saying that this program can control our thoughts and ability to think for ourselves. Ground penetrating radar, over the horizon radar, satellite neutralization, missile defense shield, weather and mind control are only the recognized possibilities it possesses.

As the watts of energy heat up the sky, the jet stream then becomes easily manipulated. This has led to questions concerning such recent disasters like the earthquake in Haiti and hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. These storms were incredibly powerful with a force we’ve never seen before. There’s no doubt that something up there is changing, but is it natural? The potential to wage destruction on an enemy by harnessing mother nature’s wrath seems not only unimaginable, but immoral. In reality, this is a crucial, existing achievability. So much so, that a treaty was signed by in 1977 that the US, Russia and 60 other countries signed agreeing that no one would use environmental manipulation in warfare. This states that we cannot use storms such as tidal waves, earthquakes or any kind of weather modifications as weapons of war. Although this only applies to the situation in which we attack a foreign country. The treaty does not cover domestic instances, meaning a country can use this technology on its citizens legally.
The concept of weather manipulation is not a new idea. Native Americans along with some Europeans  believed they could make rain as well. The early modern age, people thought that during battle the firing of cannons and guns caused storms to arise.

HAARP has not been completely accepted by the people that live near and around the project base. Although it funds a community college in the area, there are mixed feelings regarding its true purpose. The military applications have made many people uneasy. With a project so highly funded in an age of economic strife, this doesn’t sit well.

Scientists have also agreed that HAARP has the legitimate capability of mind control at a mass level. The ELF waves are able to penetrate the mind subconsciously, without one even aware that it’s happening. These waves are said to have links to both physiology disorders and emotional distortion. Vibration up to (up to 29 Hz) can subliminally influence brain activity. There are two ways in which this can be done. Transferring voice information and effecting one on an emotional level. The latter is said to be the simplest when using HAARP technology. The waves tap into our body chemistry and cells with the ability to break down the organs. In other words, this is mind/body control for the present.

Regarding military proficiency, HAARP has amazing potential to be an unstoppable force. It would allow the ability to locate deeply submerged submarines and underground enemy bases. Knock aircraft out of the sky and disabling satellites communications indefinitely. Because of its deadly prospects, it has been known as the “death ray”. China, Russia and other rising countries are now pursuing this technology as well.

As every program in the research stage, HAARP has its errors too. Scientists have speculated the disastrous effects were it ever to experience an “experiment gone wrong”. If the energy that is pumped up comes back down to earth violently, it could result in massive earthquakes inconceivable to man.  One scientist described it as an x-ray of the earth.

This is a planet we all eat, sleep, work, play, and plan on spending the rest of our lives and spreading our seeds on. We all need to be aware of projects like this and their impacts on the environment and ourselves. Missile defense and bringing rain to severely dry countries are genuine needs in this world we live in today. But is it acceptable to alter the planet and its sometimes cruel perfections? The earth is a fine balance of life and tampering with that balance just seems like flirting with extinction. The ELF waves are given off from these experiments sound harmless enough, but if so, why are we not more informed more? All we are left to do is hope that this technology stays in friendly company. Unfortunately, when such power and possibilities are in the wrong hands, disaster occurs, instead of positive progress. It seems we live in a world where destruction and struggle for control overrule compassion and empathy. This project could save lives, just as well as it could destroy civilizations.
